Short survey and forthcoming guidance from UKRIO

In early 2016, UKRIO will publish two guidance notes, one on authorship in academic publications, the second on internet-mediated research. As with all of our publications, the intent is to provide useful and proportionate guidance, without micro-managing researchers or imposing additional bureaucracy. The guidance notes will be cross-disciplinary but will also highlight issues relevant to particular disciplines.

Research organisations will be able to use these guidance notes to raise awareness of the practicalities of authorship and internet-mediated research, and also as material for staff and student development and training. The publications can be used as reference tools by organisations who wish to create specific policies on authorship or internet-mediated research, or to revise existing policies.

Work has begun on the guidance notes and draft versions will be circulated to a group of UKRIO Advisers and subscriber representatives for comment in the new year.

To inform their work, we are undertaking a short survey to find out more about what guidance on authorship and on internet-mediated research is currently in use.
