Reminder: Science and Technology Committee inquiry into research integrity

The deadline for written submissions to the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee inquiry into research integrity is Thursday 5 October 2017.

The inquiry follows on the work of the previous Committee on this issue, announced in January 2017 and then ended by the dissolution of Parliament prior to the 2017 General Election. Its Terms of Reference are available on the Science and Technology Committee’s website.

If you or your organisation submitted evidence to the earlier iteration of this inquiry (the deadline was 10 March 2017), you do not need to resubmit your evidence to the current inquiry. If you wish to submit new or updated evidence, you are of course welcome to do so.

The inquiry is seeking written submissions to inform its work, including on (but not limited to) the following issues:

  • “The extent of the research integrity problem;
  • Causes and drivers of recent trends;
  • The effectiveness of controls/regulation (formal and informal), and what further measures if any are needed;
  • What matters should be for the research/academic community to deal with, and which for Government.”

Submissions can be made via the inquiry’s written submission form.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday 5 October 2017.

UKRIO’s submission to the inquiry is available here.
