26 March 2026
UKRIO is pleased to announce the appointment of Maruxa Martinez-Campos and Finley Hickey as its new Programmes Managers.
In their roles, Maruxa and Fin will play a central part in delivering UKRIO’s expanding programme of work. They will lead day-to-day programme delivery, manage projects across the organisation, and work closely with colleagues, Associates, volunteers, and advisory bodies to produce high-quality, evidence-based outputs for the research community. Their work will support the development of practical guidance, training, and events, ensuring UKRIO continues to meet the evolving needs of the sector.
Maruxa brings over 20 years’ experience spanning academic research, scientific publishing, and science communication. A biologist by training, she has a strong focus on open science, research integrity, and equality, diversity, and inclusion. She currently coordinates working groups on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Good Scientific Practice, and teaches research integrity and ethics to early-career researchers. Maruxa is passionate about fostering an open, inclusive, and respectful research culture, and has extensive experience connecting people and translating expert knowledge into impactful initiatives.
Fin brings extensive experience from roles in open access publishing and research-intensive higher education institutions, where he has supported research integrity, ethics, and governance across the research lifecycle. He has advised on complex research misconduct cases, including authorship disputes, plagiarism, and large-scale investigations, and has played a key role in safeguarding the integrity of the published record. Fin has also designed and delivered tailored training in research ethics and integrity, supported university ethics committees, and contributed to the development of policies and guidance to promote good research practice. His work demonstrates a strong commitment to helping researchers and institutions navigate ethical and regulatory challenges.
UKRIO welcomes Maruxa and Fin to the team and looks forward to working with them as the organisation continues to expand its programmes and strengthen support for the highest standards of research integrity.
