HEFCE publishes guidance on compliance with research integrity concordat
On 24th July, the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) published the circular letter ‘Compliance with the Concordat to support research integrity.’
The publication follows HEFCE’s consultation which establishes that Concordat compliance is a condition for HEFCE grants. Institutions will be asked to demonstrate their compliance with the Concordat in their annual assurance statements, subject to routine audits.
The circular sets out HEFCE’s view of compliance with the Concordat and provides advice on where to access further information. Compliance with the Concordat is when institutions, as the employers of researchers, act in accordance with the commitments and responsibilities for employers of researchers listed in the document. HEFCE fully appreciates the autonomy of institutions and their place in determining how best to implement the five commitments for assuring high standards and integrity in their research.
