HEFCE launches consultation on implementation of the research integrity concordat

The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has invited comments on the implementation of the Concordat to Support Research Integrity within higher education institutions in receipt of public funds via HEFCE.

The consultation on the proposed implementation of the Concordat from 2013-14 seeks comment on whether compliance with the document should be a condition of HEFCE funding.

Views are also invited on whether demonstrating compliance with the Concordat should be integrated into HEFCE’s existing reporting requirements and whether this is proportionate and reasonable.

HEFCE comments that its preferred approach would be the introduction of a requirement for institutions to confirm in their annual assurance return that they are in compliance with the Concordat.

Further information on the consultation, including how to submit a response, can be found on the HEFCE website:

HEFCE – Research integrity concordat: Consultation on proposed implementation from 2013-14

Responses to the consultation should be made online by noon on Friday 8th March.
