Apply to join UKRIO’s Board of Trustees

16 December 2025

UKRIO is seeking to appoint up to four new trustees to join our Board at a pivotal moment in the charity’s evolution, as we launch a new strategy to strengthen our position within the research sector and enhance our impact on policy and practice.

About the role

Led by Professor Dame Linda Partridge, UKRIO’s Board of Trustees is a body of volunteers guiding UKRIO’s strategic direction to ensure the organisation remains effective, accountable, and aligned with its mission.

As a trustee, you will provide oversight of governance, risk management, and organisational performance, working closely with the Chair and CEO. Trustees also act as ambassadors for UKRIO, engaging with external stakeholders, advocating for research integrity, and supporting the organisation’s influence on policy and practice.

This is a voluntary, unpaid role, with reasonable travel and other expenses reimbursed. Trustees can expect to commit the equivalent of half a day to 1.5 days per month, including Board meetings, sub-committee participation, and key events.

Backgrounds we are looking for

For these openings, we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in:

  • Legal or tax matters
  • Private sector or industry research
  • Public sector, government, or public affairs
  • Marketing, communications, fundraising, or business development

Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of research integrity, credibility to operate in a governance role, strategic oversight experience, and the ability to engage with external stakeholders while collaborating effectively with fellow trustees and supporting the implementation of board decisions.

We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those at mid-career stages or without prior Board experience.
