Training and events: expanding our programme

UKRIO provides a comprehensive live programme of training and events to advance and safeguard research integrity and good research practice for both our subscribers and the wider research community. Our offer includes: 

  • A full annual programme including live events, training, workshops, and an annual symposium. See what’s happening in 2026/7.
  • On-demand online training courses for learners at subscribing organisations. 
  • Bespoke training tailored to your organisation’s needs.

What we delivered in 2025/26 

In 2025/26, we delivered 18 live training sessions and events, spanning a range of formats- from large-scale events such as our annual Symposium, to smaller, interactive forums focused on practical problem-solving and peer learning. 

We placed particular emphasis on training for research contributors, equipping participants with the practical foundations of good research practice. Our programme addressed both established and emerging challenges, including: 

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) in research 
  • Understanding and tackling non-genuine participants 
  • Publication ethics 
  • Core research ethics and good practice 

We also hosted good practice forums for research governance professionals, covering topics such as managing misconduct and strengthening governance frameworks. 

Through targeted roundtables, we brought together key stakeholders to explore wider threats to research integrity and identify opportunities for shared learning and collective action 

 

What’s coming in 2026/27 

For 2026/27, we are enhancing and expanding our programme, building on established formats such as Good Practice Forums and expert webinars, while introducing new opportunities for discussion and support, including: 

  • Research Ethics Committee (REC) Workshops for discussing thematic topics; 
  • A pilot ‘Cuppa Conundrum’ series with the University of Lancaster – offering informal, discussion-based sessions to prompt dialogue around contemporary issues in research; 
  • Increased focus on emerging evidence and current initiatives in research integrity through our popular expert webinar series. 

This expanded programme is designed to strengthen knowledge sharing and peer learning across the sector. By amplifying existing good practice, we aim to reduce duplication of effort and support the development of high-quality, sector-led guidance and resources.

Online training (subscriber-only) 

Alongside our live programme, in 26/27 we are updating and expanding our online training provision include in subscription. This includes: 

  • A revised Introduction to Research Integrity course, updated to reflect the latest field developments with a streamlined structure, improved accessibility, and a more flexible format comprising three standalone modules. 
  • A new Embracing AI with Integrity course, helping researchers and organisations use AI responsibly and with confidence, while addressing emerging challenges for research integrity. 
  • New train-the-trainer resources to help organisations strengthen internal capability and deliver training locally 

 

Bespoke training 

Where possible, we also offer bespoke training and workshops tailored to your organisation’s needs.
