Roundtables

Roundtables

Cross-sector conversations on complex or fast-moving issues.

New for 2025-26, UKRIO is hosting Roundtable discussions – interactive, output-focused sessions providing a trusted space to tackle urgent challenges in research integrity.

These sessions bring together delegates from across sectors, including subscribers and invited participants, to share perspectives, discuss experiences, and collaboratively develop practical, community-driven recommendations.

Across 2025-26, we will host two roundtables: one exploring ethical issues in research conducted across borders and disciplines, and one examining the roles of different stakeholders in promoting responsible AI use.

Format: Online webinar, hosted via Zoom

Access: Members of UKRIO subscriber organisations and other invitees

Note: Unless otherwise invited, only registrations from email addresses affiliated with subscriber organisations will be accepted. For more information, see below.

Capacity: Approximately 45 attendees per session

Length: Approximately 120 minutes per session

Discussion topics and pre-reads
When registering, participants will be invited to suggest questions or topics they would like to see addressed. About two weeks before the roundtable, UKRIO will circulate a pre-read package to all registrants, shaped by these submissions. The agenda will outline guiding themes, but discussions on the day will remain flexible and participant-led.

Post-event outputs
A key aim of these sessions is to produce action-oriented outputs synthesising the discussions. These will take the form of documents highlighting recommended actions and insights from different stakeholders. While we plan to publish these outputs publicly, UKRIO retains final discretion over dissemination and publication. Participants will be asked whether they consent to having their names or other identifying details included in the outputs.

Who can attend?
These sessions are open to members of UKRIO subscriber organisations and to other invited participants.

Unless directly invited, registrants must use an email address associated with an active subscriber organisation (e.g., name@university.ac.uk). Registrations from other addresses will be cancelled.

How much does it cost?
These sessions are free for all participants.

Are sessions recorded for later viewing?
No. To maintain a secure space for open discussion, recordings will not be shared with attendees. UKRIO will retain a recording of each session for internal recordkeeping and to support the development of event outputs (see ‘About participation’). For details on how we process participant data, please see our Privacy Policy.

How can I access these sessions?

Subscribers: Registration links will be shared in advance of each session. Submitted registrations will be reviewed to ensure they meet the email domain policy above. Approved registrants will receive a confirmation email with a link to join.

Other invitees: Invitations will be sent to stakeholders selected for their relevance to the session topic. Direct invitees are not required to meet the email domain policy.

Are live captions available?
Live captions will be available in English and can be enabled via the attendee’s Zoom page.

Can I ask for advice or raise concerns about a situation during one of these events?
Yes – In the interest of confidentiality, please direct these matters to our Advisory Service.
