Speakers

Professor Leanne Hodson discussed how research team leaders and members can nuture a healthy research culture by taking small, practical steps. She reflected on how her involvement in the sport of rowing had shaped her own career and how the insights gained has influenced how she runs her own research group and interacts with the wider academic community. She discussed the lessons learned and the opportunities for the research community to make small changes that may lead to a more fruitful working environment. Leanne’s slides can be found here.

Dr Christian Dumpitak shared experience and lessons learned from long-term developments in the field of research integrity at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf (Germany): How may implementation of mandatory courses contribute to the development of a university wide and vivid culture of research integrity? What are subsequent observations and experiences at different institutional levels? What are key factors and conditions of success in research integrity related institutional change processes? Christian’s slides can be found here.

Katie Drax discussed her experience organising a ReproducibiliTea club at the University of Bristol and as a member of the ReproducibiliTea committee. ReproducibiliTea started as a University of Oxford journal club and podcast in 2018, led by Amy Orben, Sam Parsons and Sophia Crüwell. Today it is an international, early career researcher-led, journal club series with a website and merch. It spans 109 institutions across 25 countries and has its own committee.
