Good Practice Forums

Good Practice Forums

A trusted space for exchanging experiences and advice on good research practice

New for 2025/2026, UKRIO is hosting Good Practice Forums for its subscribers – peer-led, interactive sessions providing a trusted and private space to discuss challenges and share examples of good practice.

These smaller sessions are led by delegates from within the subscriber community and offer opportunities to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore practical approaches to research integrity.

Across 2025–2026, we will host two Good Practice Forums, embedded into our regular subscriber calendar. One session will focus on good practice for Research Ethics Committees (RECs), while the other will focus on using AI in research.

Format: Online webinar, hosted via Zoom

Access: Members of UKRIO subscriber organisations only; registration required

Note: Only registrations from email addresses affiliated with subscriber organisations will be accepted. For more information, see below.

Capacity: Approximately 90 attendees per session

Length: Approximately 90 minutes per session

Leading Good Practice Forums
In the weeks leading up to each session, UKRIO will invite subscribers to nominate participants with relevant expertise to deliver short presentations that anchor the discussion. UKRIO will make the final decision on who will lead each session and will share the confirmation date for these decisions in advance.

If you are interested in leading a Good Practice Forum, please contact us at events@ukrio.org

Submitting topics and questions for discussion
When registering, participants will be asked to suggest questions or topics they would like to see addressed. Around two weeks before the forum, UKRIO will circulate an agenda to all registrants, shaped by these submissions. The agenda will provide guiding themes, but discussions on the day will remain flexible and participant-led.

Who can attend?
These sessions are open to members of UKRIO subscriber organisations. Only registrations using email addresses associated with an active subscriber organisation (e.g., name@university.ac.uk) will be accepted. Registrations from other addresses will be cancelled.

How much does it cost?
These sessions are free for UKRIO subscribers.

Are sessions recorded for later viewing?
No. To maintain a secure space for open discussion, recordings will not be shared with attendees. UKRIO retains recordings solely for internal recordkeeping. For details on how we process participant data, please see our Privacy Policy.

How can I access these sessions?
Registration links for upcoming sessions are available on the webpage above and will redirect you to Zoom. After registering, your submission will be reviewed to ensure it meets our email domain policy (see above). Approved registrants will receive a confirmation email with a link to join the session.

Are live captions available?
Live captions will be available in English and can be enabled via the attendee’s Zoom page.

Can I ask for advice or raise concerns about a situation during one of these events?
Yes – In the interest of confidentiality, please direct these matters to our Advisory Service.
