Zoë Hammatt

Ms. Zoë Hammatt is a licensed attorney with a Master’s in Law and Ethics in Medicine from the University of Glasgow. She provides writing and research integrity consultation, and serves as Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii.

Zoë previously served as Director of the Division of Education and Integrity at the U.S. Office of Research Integrity, Legal and Regulatory Specialist for an NIH-funded translational research network, and Director of the Research Integrity Program and Research Integrity Officer at the University of Hawaii. She has handled numerous cases of alleged misconduct and other breaches of integrity, and contributed to policy development and teaching in medical ethics and the responsible conduct of research in a global context.

Zoë is a founding member of research integrity networks in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and has served on the World Conferences on Research Integrity Governing Board since 2018.  She was recently appointed to the national French Advisory Board for Research Integrity.  Zoë is an External Advisor for an NIH-funded translational research program in Puerto Rico, and for the SOPs4RI project funded by the European Commission, which emphasises practical tools for research funders and research performing organisations. Zoë also worked with the Royal Society and UKRIO to help create the Integrity in Practice Toolkit as a resource for supporting a positive research culture.
