Stephen Balonwu
Stephen Balonwu is an experienced executive, lawyer, and governance professional, with over two decades of senior leadership experience across highly regulated sectors. Throughout his career, he has operated at the intersection of regulation, ethics, risk management, and organisational cultures. Currently, he has been serving as Chief Compliance Officer at SIEL, a UK-regulated financial services firm, and as a member of its Executive Committee, advising the Board and senior leadership on regulatory risk, organisational governance, and strategic decision-making. His professional background also includes practising as a corporate lawyer at a leading international law firm, as well as senior inhouse roles as Head of Legal and Head of Regulatory compliance at global financial institutions. He has direct experience of influencing regulatory policy at a European level, having collaborated with the EU commission on the development of EU package travel regulations.
