Maruxa Martinez-Campos, Programmes Manager
Maruxa Martinez-Campos has over 20 years of experience across academic research, scientific publishing, science communication, and research integrity in the UK and Spain.
After completing her PhD in Biology at the University of Cambridge, she worked as a scientific editor for the open access journal Genome Biology. She then returned to Spain to work at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), initially in science communication. There, she founded and led the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and coordinated the Good Scientific Practice Committee, developing initiatives to promote good practice and research integrity.
As an Associate Professor at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), she has taught research integrity and bioethics to more than 1,300 students.
At European level, she has been a core member of ERION (the European Research Integrity Officers Network, a thematic group within EARMA) since 2022, supporting collaboration and knowledge-sharing among research integrity practitioners. With ERION, she co-organised a 2024 meeting on the ethical use of artificial intelligence.
She has also contributed to several European projects on ethics and research integrity, including the Embassy of Good Science (focus group participant), SOPS4RI (UPF pilot institution participant), and RE4GREEN (Stakeholder Advisory Board member).
As a UKRIO Programmes Manager, Maruxa works across projects and initiatives, providing advice on research conduct and supporting the development and delivery of training on research integrity, including the ethical use of AI.
