Anna Lawless is currently a Senior Legal Counsel in the Digital and Data Protection team at Aviva. She is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe).

Since 2020, Anna has advised Aviva on a range of digital, privacy and data protection queries including complex data subject rights requests, marketing initiatives and international data transfers. Anna actively monitors changes to all privacy related laws, regulations and guidance including the UK General Data Protection Regulation, Data Protection Act and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.

She also gives counsel on complex and high risk data processing activities including profiling, automated decision making, data science and artificial intelligence. She takes a keen interest in understanding the ethical and societal implications of the wider use of data with a particular focus on issues around fairness and transparency.

Prior to Aviva, Anna trained and worked in private practice before holding commercial and privacy roles in the energy and financial services sectors.
