A Chartered Secretary by profession, Richard Sermon is currently Chairman of Gryphon Corporate Counsel Limited, Vice-Chairman of City and Guilds, a Senior Adviser at Agiltas Partners LLP and a Non-Executive Director of The IFB Research Foundation Limited, The United Kingdom Research Integrity Office (UKRIO) and The Livery Companies Apprenticeship Scheme Limited. He is also a Visiting Professor in Corporate Governance at Cass Business School.
A founding director of Shandwick plc he served successively as Chief Executive of the City, UK, and European operations and latterly International client services from 1979 to 1996. He served additionally as Public Relations Advisor at Goldman Sachs International from 1992 to 1996.
He was also previously Senior Independent Director of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc and a Non-Executive director of Newmond plc, China Eastsea Business Software Limited, The Defence Storage and Distribution Agency and The United Kingdom Defence Academy.
Richard is a Governor of The City of London School for Girls and a Trustee of The League of Remembrance. Having previously served as Chairman of London Youth for twelve years he was awarded an MBE in 2010 ‘for services to young people’. A Past Master of both the Wheelwrights’ Company and the Chartered Secretaries and Administrators’ Company, Richard served as Sheriff of the City of London in 2010/2011
