Research integrity workshop: training and development

Wednesday 16 September 2015

Kensington Close Hotel, Wright’s Lane, London W8 5SP

Delegate price: £150.00

Registration for this event has now closed.

The Concordat to Support Research Integrity states that a key feature of a good research environment is the provision of ‘suitable learning, training and mentoring opportunities to support the development of researchers.’ It is essential that research staff and research students, as well as staff supporting research activity, have opportunities to obtain support and access development activities to ensure that their work is carried out to the highest standards of ethics and integrity. However, universities face a number of issues in ensuring that appropriate support and development activities are in place.

This workshop will explore challenges involved in delivering research integrity training and how they can be overcome. Universities must be able to identify the particular obstacles that they face and confidently put in place the right kinds of support and development activities that are best suited to their own institutional profile and structure.

As part of this one-day workshop, UKRIO will share training materials on research integrity that are currently in development. Our aim is to provide a working ‘tool kit’ for developing and enhancing research integrity support, as well as designing and delivering development activities, with a clear rationale for long-term research integrity support and, in particular, enabling institutions to develop in-house expertise in this area.

Our workshop will provide an informative and lively forum for participants to share their ideas and experiences with colleagues. Delegates are invited to submit questions in advance for speakers to consider and to inform discussions.
